Indications:
DURALAX is indicated for:
Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
Healing and maintenance of erosive esophagitis
Relief from heartburn and acid-related symptoms
Pharmacology:
Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that selectively inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion.
Dosage & Administration:
Typical dose: 30 mg or 60 mg once daily; 5 mg dose is less common, adjust as per physician
Take before meals or as directed by doctor
Interaction:
May interact with drugs such as clopidogrel, ketoconazole, and warfarin
Monitor for drug absorption issues
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Dexlansoprazole or other proton pump inhibitors
Concomitant use with rilpivirine-containing products
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain
Rare: Vitamin B12 deficiency, bone fractures with long-term use
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician
Consult doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:
Long-term use requires monitoring for gastric polyps and bone health
