Indications:
Pase is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, and short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety.
Pharmacology:
Pase contains Alprazolam, a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA at the GABA-A receptor, producing sedative, anxiolytic, muscle relaxant, and anticonvulsant properties.
Dosage & Administration:
Usual adult dose: 0.25 to 0.5 mg, 3 times daily, adjusted per patient response.
Should be taken orally with or without food.
Dose tapering recommended when discontinuing to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
Interaction:
May interact with other CNS depressants, alcohol, antifungals, and certain antibiotics, increasing sedation and respiratory depression risk.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Alprazolam, acute narrow-angle glaucoma, and concurrent use with ketoconazole or itraconazole.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, impaired coordination, and memory impairment. Rarely, paradoxical reactions like agitation or aggression.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnancy due to risk of congenital malformations and neonatal withdrawal. Use caution if breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Risk of dependence, tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms.
Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration.
Avoid abrupt discontinuation.
Caution in elderly and patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
