Minium 5 mg is indicated for:
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Stable and variant angina pectoris (chest pain)
Coronary artery disease
May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents
Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes in vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, causing vasodilation and reduction in blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand.
Adults: Initial dose 5 mg once daily
Maximum dose: 10 mg once daily
Adjust dose based on patient response
Take orally, with or without food, at the same time each day.
Additive effect with other antihypertensive agents
Use cautiously with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, clarithromycin)
Grapefruit juice may increase plasma levels
Hypersensitivity to Amlodipine
Cardiogenic shock
Severe hypotension
Unstable angina (acute phase)
Headache
Peripheral edema (leg/ankle swelling)
Dizziness
Fatigue
Flushing
Palpitations (occasionally)
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed
Use with caution during breastfeeding
Monitor blood pressure regularly
Use cautiously in patients with liver impairment or heart failure
Avoid abrupt discontinuation
