Doxicap 100 mg is indicated for:
Respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis)
Urinary tract infections
Skin and soft tissue infections
Sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, syphilis)
Lyme disease and malaria prophylaxis
Doxicap contains Doxycycline, a tetracycline-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing bacterial growth.
Typical dose: 100 mg twice daily or as prescribed
Duration depends on infection severity and type
Take orally with a full glass of water to prevent esophageal irritation. Avoid taking with dairy products or antacids within 2 hours of dosing.
Reduced absorption with calcium, magnesium, iron, and antacids
May increase effects of oral anticoagulants
Interaction with retinoids increases risk of intracranial hypertension
Hypersensitivity to doxycycline or tetracycline antibiotics
Pregnancy (especially second and third trimesters)
Children under 8 years due to risk of teeth discoloration
Gastrointestinal upset: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Photosensitivity (increased sunburn risk)
Allergic reactions
Rare: esophageal ulceration
Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless clearly necessary
Consult physician before use
Use sunscreen and protective clothing to avoid photosensitivity reactions
Monitor for signs of superinfection
Avoid lying down immediately after taking the capsule
