Laxana 8 mg Capsule is a prescription medication indicated for the treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. It contains Lubiprostone, a chloride channel activator that works locally in the gastrointestinal tract. By activating chloride channels (specifically ClC-2) in the apical membrane of the intestine, it increases chloride ion secretion into the lumen. This action leads to an efflux of sodium ions through a paracellular pathway, enhancing water secretion and improving stool consistency and motility. As a result, Laxana helps alleviate constipation symptoms and promotes regular bowel movements
