Indications:
Fenadin is indicated for:
Seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
Chronic idiopathic urticaria
Other histamine-mediated allergic conditions
Pharmacology:
Fexofenadine is a selective peripheral H1 receptor antagonist that blocks histamine effects without crossing the blood-brain barrier, thus avoiding sedation.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults and children over 12 years: 120 mg once daily.
Can be taken with or without food.
Do not exceed recommended dose.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, reducing absorption.
No significant CNS depressant interactions.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine or any components.
Not recommended for children under 12 years without doctor’s advice.
Side Effects:
Headache, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth
Generally well tolerated.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid driving if dizziness occurs.
Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment.
