Description

• রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ মোতাবেক ঔষধ সেবন করুন

Indications:
Microgest is indicated for:

  • Luteal phase support during assisted reproduction techniques (e.g., IVF)

  • Threatened or recurrent miscarriage due to progesterone deficiency

  • Secondary amenorrhea

  • Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

  • Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in postmenopausal women (combined with estrogen)

  • Dysfunctional uterine bleeding

Pharmacology:
Micronized progesterone is a naturally occurring hormone that prepares the endometrium for implantation and maintains early pregnancy. It transforms the proliferative endometrium into the secretory phase and modulates estrogen activity. Micronization enhances its absorption and bioavailability when administered orally or vaginally.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Oral/Vaginal: 200–400 mg daily depending on indication

  • Luteal support: 200 mg daily or as directed by physician

  • HRT: 200 mg daily for 12–14 days of a 28-day cycle

  • Administered orally, vaginally, or rectally as per physician’s advice

  • Take at the same time daily; bedtime dosing reduces sedation side effect

Interaction:

  • May alter effects of anticoagulants, antidiabetics

  • Enzyme inducers (e.g., rifampin, phenytoin) may reduce progesterone efficacy

  • Caution with other hormone therapies

Contraindications:

  • Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding

  • Known or suspected breast or genital cancer

  • History of thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic disorders

  • Liver dysfunction or disease

  • Hypersensitivity to progesterone or excipients

Side Effects:

  • Common: Drowsiness, bloating, breast tenderness, headache

  • Less common: Nausea, mood swings, abdominal pain

  • Serious: Thromboembolism, depression, jaundice (rare)

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe during early pregnancy for progesterone support. Use under medical supervision during breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Monitor for thromboembolic events in high-risk patients

  • May cause sedation—avoid driving or machinery operation after intake

  • Regular medical follow-up required for long-term use

  • Not suitable for contraceptive purposes
