Indications:
Maxpro MUPS is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Pharmacology:
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that inhibits the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system of gastric parietal cells, suppressing gastric acid secretion and increasing gastric pH.
Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dose is 20 mg once daily, preferably 1 hour before meals. The MUPS tablet can be swallowed whole or dispersed in water before administration.
Interaction:
May interact with ketoconazole, clopidogrel, warfarin, and drugs requiring acidic gastric pH for absorption.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to Esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Rare hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed; caution advised during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Long-term use may cause vitamin B12 deficiency and increase fracture risk. Monitor for gastrointestinal infections.
