Linagliptin is a DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitor that works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, which in turn increase insulin release and decrease glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin Hydrochloride is a biguanide that decreases hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
