Indications:
Maxpro HP is indicated for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection associated with peptic ulcer disease and to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers.
Pharmacology:
Esomeprazole reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the proton pump in parietal cells. Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic effective against H. pylori by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
Dosage & Administration:
Typically prescribed as part of triple therapy, Maxpro HP is taken twice daily for 7 to 14 days along with other antibiotics as directed by a physician.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs like warfarin, theophylline, carbamazepine, and other antibiotics. Caution advised when used with CYP3A4 inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to Esomeprazole, Clarithromycin, or other macrolide antibiotics.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and taste disturbances. Rare allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Caution advised during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of antibiotic-associated colitis. Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney impairment.
