Indications:
Abetis is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
Pharmacology:
Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels, which inhibit glucagon release, increase insulin secretion, and decrease blood glucose levels.
Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dose is 40 mg once daily, with or without food. Dose adjustments may be required in renal impairment.
Interaction:
May interact with other antidiabetic drugs and medications affecting renal function.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Sitagliptin.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, nasopharyngitis, and upper respiratory tract infection. Rarely, pancreatitis may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Caution advised during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood glucose levels regularly. Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
