Cefim-3 200 mg Capsule is indicated for the treatment of infections such as acute bronchitis, chronic bronchitis exacerbation, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea caused by susceptible organisms.
Cefim-3 contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, particularly those resistant to first-line antibiotics.
As prescribed by a registered physician.
Typical adult dose: 200–400 mg daily in one or two divided doses, depending on the type and severity of infection.
To be taken orally, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Consistency in timing is advised for best results.
May interact with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin – increased INR), carbamazepine (increased serum levels), and may reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives. Caution with nephrotoxic drugs.
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins. History of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics.
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, headache.
Rare: Allergic rash, elevated liver enzymes, pseudomembranous colitis, hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis.
Category B — Animal studies have not shown fetal risk, but human studies are limited. Should be used in pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed and prescribed.
Caution in patients with renal impairment. Discontinue if severe allergic reaction or diarrhea occurs. Not recommended for viral infections.
