Indications:
CORA-DX is indicated for the relief of nasal and non-nasal symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial allergic rhinitis, and for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives).
Pharmacology:
CORA-DX contains Desloratadine, a long-acting tricyclic antihistamine that selectively antagonizes peripheral histamine H1-receptors. It does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier, minimizing sedation, and provides 24-hour symptom relief from allergic reactions.
Dosage:
Adults and adolescents (12 years and older): 5 mg once daily. Children 6-11 years: 2.5 mg once daily. Dose should be taken at the same time daily.
Administration:
To be taken orally, with or without food. Swallow tablet with water. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Interaction:
No clinically relevant interactions have been reported with Desloratadine. However, caution is advised when used with ketoconazole, erythromycin, or other CYP3A4 inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Desloratadine or Loratadine. Not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment without consulting a physician.
Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated. Common side effects may include headache, dry mouth, fatigue, or dizziness. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Desloratadine may be excreted in breast milk; caution should be exercised in lactating women.
Precautions & Warnings:
Patients with liver or kidney impairment should consult a doctor before use. Avoid alcohol during treatment. Not intended for use in children under 6 years unless directed by a physician.
Therapeutic Class:
Non-sedating antihistamines
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
