Indications:
Bipinor is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and stable chronic heart failure with reduced systolic left ventricular function.
Pharmacology:
Bisoprolol is a selective β1-adrenergic receptor blocker. It decreases heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure, thereby reducing the workload of the heart.
Dosage & Administration:
The usual starting dose is 2.5 mg once daily. Depending on the patient’s response, the dose may be increased gradually under medical supervision. Take the tablet in the morning with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with other antihypertensives, calcium channel blockers, insulin or oral hypoglycemics, and drugs that affect heart rhythm.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, significant bradycardia, or severe asthma.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, bradycardia, and cold extremities. Rarely, sleep disturbances and depression may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Bisoprolol may pass into breast milk, so consult a doctor before use during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with bronchospastic diseases, diabetes, and peripheral vascular disorders. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided.
Therapeutic Class:
Beta-blocking agents, cardioselective.
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
