Indications:
Alzolam 0.25 mg is indicated for treatment of anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and sometimes for short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety associated with depression.
Pharmacology:
Alprazolam, the active ingredient, is a benzodiazepine that acts on the central nervous system by enhancing the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA, producing a calming effect.
Dosage:
The usual adult dose is 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg taken 3 times daily. Dosage should be individualized based on patient response and doctor’s advice.
Administration:
Oral use. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Interaction:
May interact with other CNS depressants, alcohol, antifungal agents, and some antibiotics. Inform your doctor about all medications you take.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Alprazolam or benzodiazepines, acute narrow-angle glaucoma, and concurrent use with ketoconazole or itraconazole.
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, memory problems, dry mouth, and in rare cases, dependence or withdrawal symptoms.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Alprazolam passes into breast milk; breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
Precautions & Warnings:
Risk of dependence and withdrawal; avoid abrupt discontinuation. Use caution in elderly and patients with respiratory disorders.
