Indications:
Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and other acid-related stomach conditions.
Pharmacology:
Esomeprazole inhibits the proton pump in gastric parietal cells, effectively reducing gastric acid secretion.
Dosage:
Typically 30 mg once daily before a meal or as prescribed by the doctor.
Administration:
Oral administration, swallow whole with water; avoid crushing or chewing.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs like warfarin, ketoconazole, clopidogrel, and certain antiretrovirals.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors.
Side Effects:
Headache, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed; consult physician before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Long-term use may increase risk of fractures and vitamin B12 deficiency; monitor symptoms.
