Indications:
Treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), major depressive disorder, and certain anxiety disorders.
Pharmacology:
Clomipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine, improving mood and anxiety symptoms.
Dosage:
Initial dose typically 25 mg once daily, may be increased gradually by physician.
Administration:
Orally, with water, preferably at the same time daily.
Interaction:
May interact with MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, CNS depressants, and other antidepressants.
Contraindications:
Use with MAO inhibitors, recent myocardial infarction, hypersensitivity to Clomipramine.
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, constipation, weight gain, sexual dysfunction.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits outweigh risks; consult doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for suicidal thoughts, cardiac status, and serotonin syndrome risk.
