Indications:
Treatment of hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia to reduce cardiovascular risk.
Pharmacology:
Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, reducing cholesterol synthesis in the liver.
Dosage:
Typically 10 mg once daily, dosage may be adjusted based on patient response.
Administration:
Oral administration, with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with certain antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, and other lipid-lowering agents.
Contraindications:
Active liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, hypersensitivity to statins.
