Indications:
Treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, and fibromyalgia.
Pharmacology:
Duloxetine is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that increases neurotransmitters in the brain to improve mood and relieve pain.
Dosage:
Typically 20 mg once or twice daily as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Oral use with or without food; swallow whole, do not crush or chew.
Interaction:
May interact with MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, anticoagulants, and NSAIDs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to duloxetine, use with MAO inhibitors, uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma.
Side Effects:
Nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefit outweighs risk; consult doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for suicidal thoughts, serotonin syndrome, and blood pressure changes.
