Levetiracetam, the active ingredient in Levipil 250 MG Tablet, is an anticonvulsant that works by inhibiting the abnormal excitation of brain cells, thereby preventing seizures.
Adults and Children over 16 years: The initial dose is typically 250 mg twice daily, which may be gradually increased based on the patient's response and tolerance.
Children aged 1 month to 16 years: Dosage is adjusted according to body weight and age, as determined by the treating physician.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Can be taken with or without food.
Take at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
May interact with other central nervous system depressants, increasing the risk of drowsiness or dizziness.
Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
Hypersensitivity to Levetiracetam or any component of the tablet.
Severe renal impairment without dose adjustment.
Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea.
Less common: Irritability, aggression, mood swings, loss of appetite.
Serious: Suicidal thoughts, severe allergic reactions, liver problems.
Pregnancy: Category C. Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Lactation: Levetiracetam is excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
Monitor for signs of depression or suicidal thoughts.
Regular blood tests may be required to monitor liver and kidney function.
Avoid abrupt discontinuation; taper off under medical supervision to prevent seizure exacerbation.
