Indications:
Treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and certain cardiac arrhythmias.
Pharmacology:
Metoprolol Tartrate is a selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker that reduces heart rate and cardiac output.
Dosage:
Typically 25-100 mg twice daily, adjusted according to patient response.
Administration:
Orally, preferably with or immediately after meals.
Interaction:
May interact with calcium channel blockers, digoxin, antiarrhythmics, and other blood pressure medications.
Contraindications:
Severe bradycardia, heart block, cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, hypersensitivity.
Side Effects:
Fatigue, dizziness, slow heartbeat, cold extremities, gastrointestinal disturbances.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed; consult doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor heart rate and blood pressure regularly; do not stop suddenly.
