Description: Allertin 12.5 mg/5 ml Oral Solution is an antihistamine medication manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing 12.5 mg of Bilastine per 5 ml. Bilastine is a second-generation, non-sedating antihistamine that selectively inhibits peripheral H1 receptors, providing relief from allergic symptoms. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhino-conjunctivitis (hay fever) and chronic spontaneous urticaria (hives) in patients aged 4 years and above. The recommended dosage for children aged 4 to 11 years is 4 ml once daily, taken one hour before or two hours after food or fruit juice. Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, somnolence, and fatigue, though these occur at a frequency comparable to placebo. Allertin is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to Bilastine or any of its excipients. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery, as rare instances of drowsiness have been reported. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before use. Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, headache, and nausea; in such cases, medical attention should be sought promptly.
