Nortin 10 mg is indicated for:
Major depressive disorder
Anxiety disorders
Neuropathic pain (nerve pain)
Prevention of migraine headaches
Nortin contains Nortriptyline Hydrochloride, which inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin, increasing their levels in the brain to improve mood and reduce pain signals.
Initial dose: 10 mg once or twice daily, adjusted based on clinical response
Maintenance dose varies, given orally
Take orally with or without food, preferably at bedtime to reduce drowsiness.
Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors
Caution with other CNS depressants and serotonergic drugs
Possible interaction with antihypertensives and anticoagulants
Hypersensitivity to nortriptyline or tricyclic antidepressants
Recent myocardial infarction
Concurrent MAO inhibitor use
Dry mouth
Drowsiness
Constipation
Blurred vision
Rare: cardiac arrhythmias, suicidal ideation
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed
Consult physician before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Monitor for worsening depression or suicidal thoughts
Avoid abrupt discontinuation
Use cautiously in elderly and patients with cardiac disease
