: Pires-D Syrup 100 mL is an over-the-counter antitussive (cough suppressant) medication manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is formulated to provide relief from dry, irritating, and persistent coughs, particularly when they interfere with sleep. Each 5 mL of Pires-D contains 14 mg of Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride, 6.5 mg of Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, and 2 mg of Levomenthol. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine with sedative and anticholinergic properties, helping to reduce coughing and aid restful sleep. Dextromethorphan is a non-opioid cough suppressant that acts on the brain’s cough center, while Levomenthol provides a cooling, soothing sensation in the throat. This combination makes Pires-D effective in easing cough and throat irritation. It is typically recommended for adults and children over 12 years, with a standard dosage of 10 mL up to four times a day. Pires-D should not be used in children under 12 or in combination with MAO inhibitors. Side effects may include drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, or dizziness. Users are advised not to drive or consume alcohol while taking this syrup.
