Somalax 250 mg Tablet, manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains Carisoprodol as its active ingredient. It is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant indicated for the short-term relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions in adults. Carisoprodol works by depressing the central nervous system, leading to sedative and muscle-relaxant effects. The recommended dosage for adults is 250 mg to 350 mg three times a day and at bedtime, not exceeding a maximum duration of two to three weeks. Caution should be exercised in patients with renal or hepatic impairment and those with reduced CYP2C19 activity. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and headache. Somalax is contraindicated in patients with a history of acute intermittent porphyria or hypersensitivity to carbamates. It should be used with caution in combination with other CNS depressants, such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, and tricyclic antidepressants, due to the risk of additive sedative effects. Overdose may lead to severe CNS depression, respiratory depression, hypotension, and seizures, requiring immediate medical attention. Somalax should be stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature (20°–25°C), away from direct light, and out of reach of children.
