Fixcef Plus 500 mg Tablet is an antibiotic combination manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg of Cefuroxime Axetil and 125 mg of Clavulanic Acid. Cefuroxime Axetil is a second-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects Cefuroxime from degradation by beta-lactamase-producing bacteria. This combination enhances the efficacy of Cefuroxime against a broader spectrum of bacteria, including resistant strains.
Fixcef Plus 500 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of various infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute bacterial otitis media, acute bacterial maxillary sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections, uncomplicated skin and skin-structure infections, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, uncomplicated gonorrhoea, and early Lyme disease. The typical adult dosage is 500 mg twice daily for 5 to 10 days, depending on the specific infection. For pediatric patients who can swallow tablets, the dosage is adjusted based on body weight and the type of infection. It's important to complete the full course of therapy as prescribed to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
