Somalax 350 mg Tablet, manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains Carisoprodol 350 mg and is classified as a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. It is primarily used to alleviate discomfort associated with acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions in adults. Carisoprodol works by inhibiting neuronal communication within the central nervous system, leading to muscle relaxation. Its metabolite, meprobamate, possesses anxiolytic and sedative properties. Somalax is also used adjunctively in physical therapy for injuries and to reduce anxiety in patients with severe pain. The recommended dosage for adults is 250 mg to 350 mg three times a day and at bedtime, with a maximum duration of use up to two or three weeks. Caution is advised when co-administering with other CNS depressants, and it is contraindicated in patients with a history of acute intermittent porphyria or hypersensitivity to carbamates.
