Description
Droniva 150 mg Tablet contains Ibandronic Acid, a potent bisphosphonate medication used primarily for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Osteoporosis is a condition characterized by weakened bones, making them more susceptible to fractures. Ibandronic Acid works by inhibiting osteoclast activity, which reduces bone resorption and turnover, leading to increased bone mineral density (BMD) and a decreased risk of fractures. The recommended dosage is one 150 mg film-coated tablet taken once a month, preferably on the same date each month. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of plain water while the patient is sitting or standing upright, at least 60 minutes before the first food, drink (other than water), or any other oral medication or supplement. Patients should not lie down for 60 minutes after taking the medication. Common side effects may include dyspepsia, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, muscle aches, headaches, and dizziness. Ibandronic Acid is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug, uncorrected hypocalcemia, or abnormalities of the esophagus that delay esophageal emptying. It is also contraindicated in patients who are unable to stand or sit upright for at least 60 minutes. Adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D is important in all patients, and disturbances of bone and mineral metabolism should be effectively treated before starting therapy with Ibandronic Acid.
