X Lan 30 mg Capsule, manufactured by Somatec Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains Dexlansoprazole 30 mg and is classified as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It is primarily used to treat acid-related gastrointestinal conditions by reducing stomach acid production. The dual delayed-release formulation of Dexlansoprazole provides two distinct plasma concentration peaks, enhancing its effectiveness. Indications include the healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (EE) for up to 8 weeks, maintenance of healed EE and relief of heartburn for up to 6 months, and treatment of symptomatic non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) for 4 weeks. The usual dosage is 30 mg once daily, taken without regard to food. Common side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and flatulence. Precautions include monitoring for gastric malignancy, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, bone fractures, hypomagnesemia, and interactions with methotrexate. The medication should be stored below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light, and kept out of reach of children.
