Description
Duracef 400 mg Capsule contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, commonly used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is effective against infections such as upper respiratory tract infections (like otitis media, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis), lower respiratory tract infections (including acute bronchitis), urinary tract infections, and sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea. Cefixime works by inhibiting the bacterial cell wall synthesis, which leads to the destruction of the bacteria. It is also used in combination therapy for conditions like typhoid fever. The typical dosage for adults and children over 12 years is one 400 mg capsule per day, either as a single dose or divided into two doses. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and headache, while more serious side effects are rare.
