Clascon 1% w/w Cream is a topical medication manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing 1% clascoterone (cortexolone 17α-propionate). Clascoterone is a novel androgen receptor inhibitor that targets the androgen receptor (AR) in sebaceous glands and hair follicles. By competing with androgens like dihydrotestosterone (DHT) for binding to ARs, clascoterone blocks downstream signaling pathways that promote acne pathogenesis, including sebaceous gland proliferation, excess sebum production, and inflammation. This mechanism makes Clascon effective in treating acne vulgaris, particularly in patients aged 12 years and older. The recommended application is a thin layer applied to the affected area twice daily, in the morning and evening, after gently cleansing and drying the skin. Common side effects may include erythema (redness), pruritus (itching), scaling, dryness, stinging, and burning sensations. It is important to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 12 years have not been established. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before use. Store the cream in a cool, dry place, protected from light, and out of reach of children
