Conpan 0.5 mg Tablet is an anticonvulsant and anxiolytic medication manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing 0.5 mg of Clonazepam. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that exerts its effects by enhancing the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. This action leads to sedative, anxiolytic, muscle-relaxant, and anticonvulsant effects. Conpan is indicated for the treatment of various seizure disorders, including generalized tonic-clonic seizures, absence seizures, and myoclonic seizures. It is also used in the management of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia. The recommended dosage varies based on the condition being treated and individual patient factors. For adults with seizure disorders, the initial dose should not exceed 1.5 mg/day, divided into three doses, and may be increased gradually up to a maximum of 20 mg/day. For panic disorder, the initial dose is typically 0.25 mg twice daily, with an increase to the target dose of 1 mg/day after 3 days. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, ataxia, and behavioral changes. Conpan should be used with caution in patients with a history of substance abuse or liver impairment. Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before use. Store the medication in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture, and out of reach of children.
