Description
Prulicon 1 mg Tablet, manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains prucalopride succinate as its active ingredient. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic idiopathic constipation in adults who have not responded adequately to laxatives. Prucalopride is a selective 5-HT₄ receptor agonist that stimulates colonic motility by enhancing the release of acetylcholine, thereby promoting peristalsis and facilitating bowel movements. The recommended dosage for adults is 2 mg once daily, which may be taken with or without food. For elderly patients, the initial dose is 1 mg once daily, which may be increased to 2 mg if necessary. Prulicon is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to prucalopride or any of its components, severe renal impairment requiring dialysis, or intestinal obstruction. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness. Caution is advised when prescribing to patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, severe hepatic impairment, or those taking other medications that may interact with prucalopride. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
