Azirox 500 mg Tablet is an antibiotic manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing 500 mg of Azithromycin. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby preventing bacterial growth and replication. It is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections, including upper and lower respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, pharyngitis, and pneumonia), otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections like non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. The recommended dosage for adults is 500 mg once daily for 3 days, or 500 mg on day 1 followed by 250 mg daily for the next 4 days. For sexually transmitted infections, a single dose of 1 gm may be administered. Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a healthcare provider before use. Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and moisture, and out of reach of children.
