Description
Pizofen 0.5 mg Tablet is a medication manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing Pizotifen as its active ingredient. It is primarily used for the prophylactic treatment of recurrent vascular headaches, including classical migraine, common migraine, and cluster headache. Pizofen works by antagonizing serotonin receptors and possessing antihistamine, antibradykinin, and weak anticholinergic properties. These actions help in reducing the frequency and severity of migraine attacks. The usual adult dosage is 1.5 mg daily, which may be taken as a single dose at night or in divided doses. The dosage can be adjusted according to individual patient requirements, up to a maximum of 4.5 mg daily. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients. Common side effects include increased appetite, weight gain, and drowsiness. Caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery, as Pizofen may cause drowsiness
