Itracon 50 mg/5 ml Oral Solution is an antifungal medication manufactured by Navana Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Each 5 ml of the oral solution contains 50 mg of Itraconazole, a triazole antifungal agent known for its broad-spectrum activity against various fungal infections. Itraconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased membrane permeability and ultimately the death of the fungal cell.
This oral solution is specifically indicated for the treatment of oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis, particularly in patients who are unable to swallow tablets or capsules. The recommended dosage for oropharyngeal candidiasis is 200 mg (20 ml) daily for 1 to 2 weeks, and for esophageal candidiasis, it is 100 mg (10 ml) daily for a minimum of 3 weeks. For pediatric patients aged 1 month to 11 years, the dosage is 5 mg/kg once daily for 14 days, or as directed by a physician.
