Indications:
NEPCO 50 MG Capsule is indicated for treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain), and for secondary prevention of myocardial infarction.
Pharmacology:
NEPCO 50 contains Atenolol, a selective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It works by reducing heart rate and cardiac output, which lowers blood pressure and decreases oxygen demand by the heart.
Dosage:
Typical dosage is 50 mg once daily.
Dose may be adjusted based on patient response and medical advice.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Swallow capsule whole. Do not crush or chew.
Interaction:
May interact with calcium channel blockers, other beta-blockers, antiarrhythmics, digoxin, and certain diabetic medications. Inform your physician about all drugs you use.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with sinus bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, severe peripheral arterial disease, and hypersensitivity to atenolol.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, cold extremities, slow heart rate, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Rarely, may cause bronchospasm or depression.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Atenolol is excreted in breast milk; caution advised during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not abruptly stop medication without doctor’s advice.
Use cautiously in patients with respiratory disorders or diabetes.
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly.
