Indications:
Treatment of moderate to severe active rheumatoid arthritis in adults to reduce signs and symptoms.
Pharmacology:
Baricitinib is a Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor that blocks intracellular signaling pathways involved in inflammation and immune response.
Dosage:
Typical dose is 2 mg once daily orally. Dose may be adjusted based on clinical response.
Administration:
Oral administration once daily, with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with immunosuppressants, biologics, and strong CYP3A4 inducers or inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Active infections, hypersensitivity to Baricitinib, severe hepatic impairment, pregnancy and lactation.
Side Effects:
Common: upper respiratory infections, headache, nausea. Serious: infections, blood clots, elevated liver enzymes.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for infections, blood counts, liver function during therapy. Avoid live vaccines during treatment.
