Indications:
Improvement of glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Pharmacology:
Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, increasing urinary glucose excretion.
Dosage:
Usually 10 mg once daily in the morning, with or without food.
Administration:
Oral administration; swallow whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with diuretics, insulin, and other antidiabetic medications.
Contraindications:
Type 1 diabetes, severe renal impairment, hypersensitivity to Empagliflozin.
Side Effects:
Urinary tract infections, genital infections, increased urination, dehydration.
