Indications:
Management of mild to moderate pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions.
Pharmacology:
Etodolac inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby inflammation and pain.
Dosage:
Typically 60-200 mg taken 2-3 times daily as prescribed by a physician.
Administration:
Oral administration with food to minimize gastrointestinal irritation.
Interaction:
Possible interactions with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, antihypertensive drugs, and diuretics.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Etodolac or NSAIDs, active peptic ulcer, severe heart failure.
Side Effects:
Nausea, gastrointestinal upset, dizziness, headache, increased bleeding risk.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use cautiously in pregnancy; avoid in the third trimester. Limited data on safety during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for signs of GI bleeding, kidney function, and cardiovascular events.
