Indications:
Treatment of mild to moderate pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions.
Pharmacology:
Etodolac inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis, thereby decreasing pain and inflammation.
Dosage:
Usually 90-200 mg taken 2-3 times daily as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Oral intake with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, diuretics, and antihypertensive drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Etodolac or other NSAIDs, active peptic ulcer disease, severe heart failure.
Side Effects:
Nausea, dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal upset, increased bleeding risk.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use with caution during pregnancy; avoid in the third trimester. Limited data on lactation safety.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for gastrointestinal bleeding, renal function, and cardiovascular risks.
