Indications:
Treatment of invasive aspergillosis, candidemia, serious fungal infections, and other systemic fungal infections.
Pharmacology:
Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzymes, disrupting fungal cell membrane synthesis.
Dosage:
Typical dose is 200 mg every 12 hours or as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Oral administration with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with drugs metabolized by CYP450 enzymes such as rifampin, warfarin, phenytoin.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to voriconazole or other azole antifungals, co-administration with certain drugs.
Side Effects:
Visual disturbances, rash, elevated liver enzymes, nausea, headache.
