Indications:
Treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Pharmacology:
Tadalafil inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), increasing cGMP levels and causing smooth muscle relaxation, enhancing blood flow to the penis.
Dosage:
Usually 1 mg once daily; dose may be adjusted based on response.
Administration:
Orally with or without food.
Interaction:
Avoid use with nitrates, alpha-blockers, and certain antifungal or antibiotic drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity, concurrent nitrate therapy, severe cardiovascular disease.
Side Effects:
Headache, flushing, dyspepsia, nasal congestion, dizziness.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not applicable (for males only).
Precautions & Warnings:
Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disease; seek medical advice if prolonged erection occurs.
