Indications:
Indicated for the treatment of hypertension, especially in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.
Pharmacology:
Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that reduces blood vessel constriction. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that lowers blood pressure by reducing plasma volume and sodium retention.
Dosage:
One tablet once daily, usually recommended when monotherapy is insufficient. Dose adjustments should be made under medical supervision.
Administration:
Administer orally with or without food. Take with water at the same time each day.
Interaction:
May interact with lithium, NSAIDs, antidiabetics, and other antihypertensive agents. Potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics should be avoided unless advised.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with anuria, hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs, or any component of this product. Not for use during pregnancy.
Side Effects:
Dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea, increased urination, hypokalemia. Rarely, allergic reactions or renal dysfunction may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy due to risk of fetal toxicity. Use in lactation only if clearly necessary and under strict medical guidance.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, electrolytes, and renal function regularly. Caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, diabetes, or gout.
