Indications:
Effective against scabies, strongyloidiasis, onchocerciasis, and other parasitic infections.
Pharmacology:
Ivermectin binds selectively to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, causing paralysis and death of parasites.
Dosage:
Typically 12 mg orally as a single dose; may repeat based on clinical response or as prescribed.
Administration:
Oral intake on an empty stomach with water.
Interaction:
Caution with drugs like warfarin; possible interactions with other antiparasitic drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ivermectin, children under 5 years or weighing less than 15 kg, pregnancy (unless benefits outweigh risks).
Side Effects:
Mild dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, and skin rash may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
