Indications:
Treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence) in adult males.
Pharmacology:
Sildenafil citrate is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor that increases blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation.
Dosage:
Typically, one 20 mg tablet taken about 30-60 minutes before sexual activity; maximum once daily.
Administration:
Oral administration with water; can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
Contraindicated with nitrates and some alpha-blockers; caution with antihypertensives.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to sildenafil, concurrent use of nitrates, severe cardiovascular disorders.
Side Effects:
Headache, flushing, dizziness, nasal congestion, visual disturbances.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not applicable (male use only).
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid use with nitrates; seek immediate medical attention if prolonged erection (>4 hours) occurs.
