Indications:
Hypercholesterolemia, hyperlipidemia, prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, and modestly raises HDL cholesterol.
Dosage:
5 mg once daily, dose may be adjusted based on patient response.
Administration:
Oral intake, with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with other lipid-lowering drugs, cyclosporine, warfarin, and certain antivirals.
Contraindications:
Active liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, hypersensitivity to statins.
Side Effects:
Headache, muscle pain, abdominal pain, nausea, increased liver enzymes.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver function tests and muscle symptoms during treatment.
