Indications:
Treatment of mild to moderate pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory conditions.
Pharmacology:
Etodolac inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby inflammation and pain.
Dosage:
Typically 200-300 mg taken 2-3 times daily, but dose may vary; consult physician.
Administration:
Oral administration with food to reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, antihypertensives, and diuretics.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Etodolac or NSAIDs, active peptic ulcer disease, severe heart failure.
Side Effects:
Gastrointestinal upset, nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use with caution in pregnancy; avoid in third trimester. Limited data on lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for GI bleeding, renal impairment, and cardiovascular risk.
