Indications:
Allergic rhinitis
Hay fever
Urticaria (hives)
Skin allergies
Itchy skin or insect bites
Drug-induced allergies
Motion sickness
Pharmacology:
Avil contains Pheniramine Maleate, a first-generation antihistamine. It works by blocking histamine H1 receptors, thereby reducing allergy symptoms like sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. It also has mild sedative properties.
Dosage:
Adults: 1 tablet (22.7 mg) 2 to 3 times daily
Children: As directed by physician
Dosage should be individualized based on the severity of symptoms
Administration:
Should be taken orally with or without food
Do not exceed the recommended dosage
May cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery
Interaction:
Alcohol and CNS depressants can enhance the sedative effects
May interact with MAO inhibitors, increasing the risk of side effects
Use with caution with other antihistamines or sedatives
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to pheniramine or similar antihistamines
Severe hypertension
Narrow-angle glaucoma
Prostatic hypertrophy
Epilepsy
