Description

• রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ মোতাবেক ঔষধ সেবন করুন

Indications:

  • Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)

  • Relief from angina (chest pain)

  • Used in the prevention of heart attack and in the management of certain heart-related conditions like arrhythmias

  • Can be used to reduce the frequency of migraine headaches

  • Treatment of heart failure when combined with other therapies

  • Post-heart attack treatment to improve survival rates and reduce the risk of future complications

Pharmacology:

Betanol (Atenolol) is a selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker. It works by blocking the effects of adrenaline (epinephrine) on the heart, reducing heart rate and the force of heart contractions. This leads to a decrease in blood pressure and helps reduce the workload on the heart. It is also effective in preventing chest pain (angina) by improving blood flow to the heart. Atenolol works by reducing the heart's oxygen demand, which is beneficial in conditions like high blood pressure and angina.

Dosage & Administration:

  • For hypertension, the typical starting dose is 50 mg once daily, which may be increased to 100 mg depending on the patient's response.

  • For angina, the usual dose is 50 mg to 100 mg once daily.

  • For post-heart attack treatment, the recommended dose is 50 mg to 100 mg daily.

  • For migraine prevention, the typical dose is 25 mg to 50 mg daily.

  • Betanol should be taken with or without food.

  • The dosage may vary depending on the patient's condition and response, so always follow the prescribed instructions from your healthcare provider.

Interaction:

  • Increased Effect: Combining Betanol with other antihypertensive medications (e.g., ACE inhibitors, diuretics) may enhance its blood pressure-lowering effect.

  • Decreased Effect: The effectiveness of Betanol may be reduced when taken with certain drugs like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, which can raise blood pressure.

  • Caution: Combining Betanol with other heart medications, especially calcium channel blockers, may lead to excessive lowering of heart rate and blood pressure.

  • Always consult your doctor if you are taking other medications, especially for heart conditions, before starting Betanol.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to atenolol or any of its components

  • Severe bradycardia (slow heart rate)

  • Second- or third-degree heart block (without a pacemaker)

  • Severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

  • Heart failure (in cases where it is not adequately controlled by other treatments)
